New Haas unit offers 5-axis machining of large parts

The UMC-1600-H starts with the company's popular EC-1600ZT HMC frame and can machine parts as heavy as 3,000 pounds.

UMC-1600-H This universal machining center from Haas adds five-axis machining capabilities to the company’s popular EC-1600ZT HMC frame. Its heavy-duty HRT630 rotary table has a 24.8-inch diameter, and the company used a purpose-built casting to mount it to the integrated fourth-axis platter. It has a 50-taper spindle and can run at up to 7,500 rpm.

What’s new? The UMC-1600-H, which will be available for delivery this month in the U.S. and Canada only. 

Benefits Five-axis machining of large parts. The UMC-1600-H can accommodate large work pieces with multiple sides and/or complex contours. It can handle parts up to 1,500 pounds, and use of an optional outboard support boosts that number to 3,000 pounds. It is available at a starting price of $349,995.
