PLASTICS Legislative Fly-In brings industry leaders to Capitol Hill

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) is preparing to host its 2025 Spring Meeting and Legislative Fly-In, an opportunity for industry leaders to advocate for policies that support manufacturing, innovation and sustainability. From April 7-9, the event at the MGM National Harbor Hotel in Oxon Hill, Md., will bring our industry face to face with federal lawmakers to discuss the industry’s critical role in the U.S. economy.
“The plastics industry is a cornerstone of American manufacturing, and our Legislative Fly-In allows attendees to share firsthand how we drive innovation and sustainability and create jobs throughout the country,” said Matt Seaholm, PLASTICS president and CEO. “It’s essential that policymakers understand the real impact of plastics and the importance of fostering a regulatory environment that supports domestic production and the over 1 million Americans employed by our industry.”
Advancing industry priorities through advocacy
This powerful advocacy event connects industry leaders like you with legislators and their staff, providing a unique platform to:
Influence trade and tax policy: Directly engage with policymakers to highlight the impact of trade and tax policies on the plastics industry. Advocate for fair trade practices, global market access and a competitive landscape for U.S. plastics manufacturers. Promote tax policies that drive industry growth, encourage investment and support innovation. Leverage your experiences to shape policies that foster expansion, job creation and long-term competitiveness.
Showcase industry innovation: Highlight the cutting-edge technological advancements and sustainable practices that make plastics a crucial part of a thriving U.S. economy. Share your contributions and demonstrate our commitment to responsible growth.
Champion the plastics industry: Be a part of a collective effort to educate policymakers about the importance of plastics manufacturing and its positive contributions to American jobs and communities. You’ll have a significant impact as you share stories of your company’s successes at improving everyday life and enhancing the economy in the communities you serve.
“The policy decisions made in Washington, D.C., directly affect our members, their businesses and their employees,” said Chris Rager, PLASTICS VP of government affairs. “By meeting face-to-face with lawmakers, we can ensure our voices are truly heard on the issues that matter most to the industry.”
Keynote speaker: Kellyanne Conway
A highlight of this year’s Spring Meeting and Fly-In will be a keynote address from Kellyanne Conway, former senior counselor to President Donald Trump and a veteran political strategist.
Conway will provide meeting attendees with an insider’s perspective on the political landscape in Washington, examining voting trends and providing insight into the priorities and strategies of the new White House and Congress.
“As federal and state lawmakers continue to debate policies that impact our industry, it’s critical that we engage directly with decision-makers to promote balanced and sound policy solutions,” added Seaholm. “With a new Congress and administration in Washington, this year’s Fly-In is more important than ever.”
A platform for industry collaboration
In addition to meetings on Capitol Hill, the Fly-In will feature:
- An economic update from PLASTICS’ chief economist, Dr. Perc Pineda.
- An update from PLASTICS’ leadership highlighting the work in government affairs, sustainability and public affairs.
- Networking opportunities for industry professionals to collaborate on shared challenges and solutions.
The plastics industry supports nearly 1 million American jobs and contributes over $519 billion to the U.S. economy. With increasing legislative attention on manufacturing, the Spring Meeting and Fly-In provides a unique opportunity for industry leaders to engage in direct advocacy.
