Wittmann IMM line adds servo-electric units

They offer better performance and energy efficiency for the SmartPower Combimould series.

SmartPower Combimould With clamping forces ranging from about 42 tons to about 450 tons, this line of Wittmann injection molding machines (IMMs) is designed for multi-component molding involving different colors or materials.

What’s new? New servo-electric injection units. Wittmann exhibited one in October at Fakuma in an automated work cell on a SmartPower Combimould B8X 120/350H/130S producing a bottle opener made of PC and thermoplastic elastomer. The new injection units have a beltless direct drive. Available for the entire series of servo-hydraulic SmartPower models, they are now standard on multi-component IMMs.

Benefits Better performance and efficiency than SmartPower Combimould machines equipped with hydraulic units. The units exhibit high dynamism and maximal shot-to-shot repeatability, and are precise, accurate and energy-efficient. The injection units can handle options such as active injection, servo-dosing or high-speed injection, which previously required an energy-intensive hydraulic accumulator. This allows parallel dosing without any extra cost for users.
