Universal Robots plans nation’s largest cobot conference and trade show
Universal Robots is introducing what it calls the nation's largest collaborative robot (cobot) conference and tradeshow, Collaborate North America, Jan. 28 in Novi, Mich.
The one-day event will include more than 30 hands-on demonstrations with several focusing on injection molding-related tasks. Applications will include welding, quality inspection, material handling, machine tending, assembly and palletizing. The demonstrations will involve numerous suppliers of end-of-arm tooling for Universal Robots cobots.
Speakers will include subject experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Association for Advancing Automation (A3) and Siemens.
Universal Robots CCO Stacey Moser will deliver the keynote address.
Other speakers will include:
- Ben Armstrong, MIT executive director and research scientist, discussing how companies are adopting advanced technologies
- Jake Hall, an industry advocate and speaker, who is known as the “Manufacturing Millennial.” He is an advocate for modernizing the manufacturing industry through automation and emerging technologies.
- Alex Shikany, VP of membership and market intelligence at A3, an expert on market trends, industry growth analysis and integrating automation into existing operations.
- Bernd Raithel, director of factory automation at Siemens, whose expertise is on creating intelligent, connected factories.
The event is free, but Universal Robots asks those interested to register in advance. The company expects more than 500 attendees including manufacturing professionals, automation specialists and educators.

Cobots are the fastest-growing segment of industrial automation with experts forecasting 20 percent growth through 2028, according to Universal Robots.
