CAMWorks now allows cloud collaboration

March 18, 2025
The latest version of HCL's CNC and CAM programming solution adds more new features.

CAMWorks Designed to help users perform machining more quickly, this HCL Technologies’ CNC and CAM programming solution includes features to help users with a variety of functions, including 2.5-axis milling, three-axis milling, multi-axis milling, turning, wire EDM, high-speed machining and tolerance-based machining.

What’s new? HCL’s introduction of CAMWorks 2025, which includes CAMWorks for 3DExperience SolidWorks, allowing in-the-cloud collaboration. The latest release combines new technology with fully integrated CAD/CAM, automatic feature recognition and intelligence-based machining with the TechDB — the name for CAMWorks’ technology database. In addition, HCL has extended its Machine Aware Programming feature, which allows CAM programmers to create a CNC setup and program a part on a digital twin of the CNC machine; the feature now includes machine components, collision detection and an option to pause on collision. Other enhancements in HCL CAMWorks 2025 include bar break chamfers, additional tool options for automatic deburring, and the ability to specify collets as a work holding device for turning machines.

Benefits The ability to manage data and collaborate on new product development across multiple departments or business units, including engineering, design and manufacturing, in the cloud. New features allow for better and faster machining, reduced programming and machining cycle time, and improved quality. With the Machine Aware Programming advancements, for example, CAM programmers have instant access early in the process to information about how their planned machining strategies would perform.
