The  Unilog B8 control system

Wittmann Battenfeld Group, Vienna, has shipped the first injection molding machines to North America equipped with its new Unilog B8 control system.

Last month, the Unilog B8 was shown for the first time in the U.S. at Plastec West. A prototype was demonstrated at the K show in October. It replaces Wittmann's Unilog B6 control system on all new presses, including vertical models, and cannot be retrofitted to older machines.

Sonny Morneault, VP of sales at Wittmann Battenfeld Inc., Torrington, Conn., said the control interface has been significantly redesigned to look and operate like a modern smartphone, using zoom and swipe functions that will be familiar to users.

It also can easily recognize and control all the Wittmann auxiliary equipment, including robots, in a work cell.  Other features include:

• A 21.5-inch display and full HD resolution;

• Split screen;

• Integrated buttons for manual operation;

• An RFID user access control for log on and log off;

• Multiple copying of machine set points; and

• The option to create custom pages.
