Lisa printer Sinterit's 3-D printer uses laser sintering technology to bond together shapes from polyamide 12, a nylon resin often used in fuel and brake systems and tubing. The machine, which measures about 26 inches by 22 inches by 16 inches, can print multiple objects at once. It is available for $7,990 on Sinterit's website; the company plans to have distributors in the United States and Europe next year.

Benefits Compact size and cost-efficient price. According to the company, the Lisa printer produces stronger parts than those made using fused deposition modeling or stereolithographic approaches. The printer requires no additional support structures to print parts.
