Sun Plastech Inc., Parsippany, N.J., is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its purging compound Asaclean this year.
The purging compound is used in injection molding and extrusion equipment. It was developed by its parent company, Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp., Tokyo. The product was first introduced in Japan in 1990. Grades today include EX, a glass-filled grade for high scrubbing; and UP grade, an olefin-based compound designed for PP and PE color and resin changes. Newer introductions include its HP grade, which was specifically developed for PP color changes for large parts and hot-runner cleaning; and PF grade, which is specifically formulated for super-engineering resins at processing temperatures of up to 790 degrees Fahrenheit.
