Kiefel will reorganize, cut 100 jobs

Nov. 19, 2024
The maker of thermoforming machinery cites a "challenging market situation" and "intensified global competition."

Kiefel GmbH is pursuing a “structural reorientation for the long-term strengthening of its global competitiveness,” focusing on efficiency and streamlining its global structures and processes.

About 100 jobs will be eliminated at its headquarters in Freilassing, Germany.

The “One Kiefel” strategy aims to expand its markets beyond the existing polymer, fiber and medical/pharmaceutical business areas to other segments with growth potential and a wide customer base, such as automation.

The company said in a press release “the modifications are required due to the challenging market situation in machine engineering and intensified global competition. This strategic focus also involves changes to job profiles and organizational structures.”

Of the 100 jobs expected to be eliminated, about one-quarter will come via retirements and contract expirations. While the company remains committed to the Freilassing site, service and innovation centers will be expanded in important markets.

Kiefel, a member of the Brückner Group, manufactures thermoforming and joining technology for plastics, recycled and bio-based materials, and natural fibers.
