The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division is seeking entries for its biennial Parts Competition, including a new category for parts used in assemblies. The submission deadline is May 5.
Entries will be displayed during the 30th SPE Thermoforming Conference, to be held May 19-21 at the Cobb Galleria and Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. Awards will be presented at a May 20 dinner.
Entrants may submit parts in these categories:
- Roll-fed categories are industrial, medical or food
- Heavy-gauge categories are vacuum form, pressure form and twin sheet
- Production parts from 3D-printed tooling
- Sustainable thermoforming
- Parts produced for electric vehicle (EVs) and battery applications
- Thermoforming parts used in assemblies (new this year)
“Customer needs have evolved and thermoformed parts have evolved along with them. We are seeing plastic parts in tighter tolerance assemblies,” said Travis Kieffer, 2025 SPE Thermoforming Conference Parts Competition Chair.
“These parts typically mate with other parts made from different processes and may include features such as screens, electrical components and attachment points, for example. Parts have more complex assemblies designed to add value to the customer, but they often present challenges. We want to help companies showcase their achievements during our conference.”
Guidelines and the entry form are posted at https://thermoformingdivision.com/parts-competition/guidelinesentry-form/. Product images and descriptions must be emailed to Travis Kieffer at [email protected] by May 5.
