Branson MCX Series Emerson’s Branson MCX-series ultrasonic systems for cleaning injection molds come in three sizes to accommodate molds as large as 4.3 feet by 4 feet by 1.4 feet. Mold halves are placed in the system’s tank along with cleaning solution. The system emits ultrasonic waves into the solution, creating minute bubbles that implode, releasing energy. The resulting turbulence dislodges contaminants from the mold’s surfaces, even in tiny crevices where brushes cannot reach. The units can be configured to include one or more rinse stations to remove any chemical residue or to add rust-inhibiting chemicals to improve mold life.
What’s new? The Branson MCX-series systems, which are specifically designed for cleaning injection molds. They feature powerful immersion heaters and side-mounted transducers, an important innovation over systems with transducers mounted on the bottom of the tank. Since most injection molds are rectangular, with design details on the surface facing the side of the tank, side-mounted transducers result in a more intense and focused cavitation.
Benefits Effective, fast and efficient cleaning and reduced risk of damage to molds. With the systems, molds that would take three hours or more to clean by hand can be cleaned in 15 to 20 minutes. Additionally, they eliminate the need for toxic cleaning solutions.
