Wittmann Battenfeld adds to VPower with second injection unit

Sept. 3, 2019
Wittmann Battenfeld looks to expand the capabilities of its VPower vertical press with the addition of a second injection unit that makes multi-material molding possible
VPower Wittmann Battenfeld’s vertical injection molding machine series is available with clamping forces ranging from 120 tons to 160 tons. The presses have two tie bars and a rotary table, with rotary tables ranging in diameter from about 4.3 feet to about 5.3 feet. The presses can be configured for oscillating, two-station operation, as well as two-, three- or four-station rotary operation. An optional feature allows injection units to be converted so they can serve either vertical or horizontal needs. As standard, the machines have a servo-hydraulic twin pump system.

What’s new? A version, to be exhibited at K 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany, that has two injection units for the processing of multiple materials. Using a 2+2 cavity mold, the VPower 120/130H/210V will make a plug from polyamide and TPE for the automotive industry. The machine will be equipped with both a horizontal and vertical injection unit and outfitted with a specialized automation package, with a SCARA robot and WX142 linear robot from Wittmann Battenfeld.

Benefits The ability to process more than one material at once.
