Moldshield Injection molded parts that fall outside the desired drop zone can become scrap waste when they suffer damage or contamination, or are lost. PCS has addressed these issues with its Moldshield, a part-containment curtain made of heavy-gauge, chemical-resistant film. Mounting hardware with rare earth magnets is attached on either side of the mold’s parting line, then the Moldshield is attached to the hardware with plastic clips. As the mold opens, the Moldshield unrolls like a window curtain to cover the side opening, and retracts as the mold closes. Moldshields are sold in pairs to install on both sides of a mold. They are available in eight standard heights from 8 inches up to 47 inches, with a maximum opening of 24 inches. For larger applications, multiple Moldshields can be used.
What’s new? The Moldshield.
Benefits Simple part protection and decreased scrap waste. The Moldshield is made of clear film, allowing technicians to observe the entire molding area and monitor parts in production. The magnetized hardware makes it quick and easy to set up, remove for mold changes and mold maintenance, or move to other molds. Moldshields can withstand operating temperatures of up to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
