E-speed 720 This hybrid 720-ton injection molding machine from Engel combines the all-electric technology of the Engel e-motion and e-cap presses with high injection speeds.
What's new? An electric clamping unit with a new drive concept: A flywheel acts as an electrical power reserve, storing braking energy from platen movements and transferring it back to the motor to be used for processes like the re-acceleration of clamping movements. Because of the long opening stroke of the electric plasticizing drive, the machine is able to work with large stack molds. NPE marks the e-speed 720's North American debut.
Benefits Energy efficiency and high injection speeds of up to 800mm per second. The drive avoids power peaks in connection with short cycle times, even under high clamping forces. When storage capacity for braking energy is reached, the generator's excess energy is fed back into the grid, letting the press run with a relatively low, constant, connected load.
