Boston Matthews coilers include servo-control system

Feb. 26, 2025
The UCS series is available in single- or twin-coil systems and a range of sizes.

Coilers Extrusion machinery maker Boston Matthews’ take-up winders — also known as coilers — provide an easy and cost-effective means of winding tubing and flexible profiles. The company offers both standard models and models customized to customers’ needs.

What’s new? A new line, the UCS series, which incorporates as standard Boston Matthews’ Smart servo-control system. Available in single- or twin-coil models, the coilers are available in a range of sizes to match users’ winding requirements, based on factors such as the product being coiled, the length and weight of each coil and customers’ specific coil formers. The Smart servo-control system features an easy-to-follow touch screen, and set-up functions include pitch length, dwell time and total length of coil. Warning alarms can be set to alert the operator when a coil length run is near completion. The coilers are configured to use two common types of tension control — either dancing-arm control or sonar-loop control.

Benefits Precision winding of tubes and flexible profiles, and ease of use. With the Smart controller, the UCS coilers are easy to set up and use, relieving the requirement for experienced and skilled operators.
