Branson welder bonds metals inside plastic parts

Dec. 19, 2022
The GMX-20MA has a new actuator for smoother vertical motion and maximum long-term repeatability.

GMX-20MA Plastics parts makers can use this Branson ultrasonic metal spot welder to bond nonferrous metals in parts such as metal wiring encased by extruded plastic sheathing for consumer electronics or electric-vehicle battery applications.

What’s new? A rigid pneumatic actuator mechanism that features dual linear bearings.

Benefits Smoother vertical motion and maximum long-term repeatability in tooling alignment, thanks to the new actuator. A digital load cell closely regulates actuator downforce pressure as the spot weld is completed. Also, the welder features several modes, ensuring the precision required to maintain tight weld process control despite occasional variations in part surface quality or cleanliness.
