Entek announced that, in response to the U.S. Department of Energy’s imperative for a sustainable and resilient domestic supply chain for lithium batteries, it will greatly expand its U.S. lithium-ion battery separator production.
The Lebanon, Ore.-based supplier of turnkey extrusion systems, twin-screw extruders and components said that by 2027 it will have expanded annual production to 15 billion square feet.
Entek CEO Larry Keith said, “Entek has supplied the majority of OEM automotive lead-acid battery separator materials in North America for decades, earning the trust and confidence of major automakers and battery producers alike. … Entek has both the commitment and capability to supply the growing and critical U.S. lithium-ion battery industry with U.S.-produced separators.”
