Peter Heilmayr, a longtime expert on plastics extrusion, died at his home in Broadway, Va., on Aug. 18.
Heilmayr was born in Salzburg, Austria, on Aug. 12, 1933. He earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Vienna, and began a lifelong career in plastics, becoming an expert on PVC extrusion. He held leadership positions with a variety of companies, including American Maplan Corp., Vinyl Extrusion Technologies Inc. and Theysohn Extrusions.
His survivors include his wife, Claire Robin; children Dietlinde, Robert, Stephan and Susanna; and grandchildren Kasimir and Sophia. He is also survived by his first wife, Anna Heilmayr, and was predeceased by his second wife, Gundula Heilmayr.
