The machine provides twice as much output as a single-cavity machine without doubling the investment and operating costs, according to the Monza, Italy, company.

The ASPI 150.3 Duo was designed for making products with curving, complicated shapes and round cross-sections, such as ducts for the automotive industry. However, like all models in the ASPI series, it also can be used for blow molding objects, such as interior air ducts, that the company characterizes as being 2-D, or having flat cross-sections, rather than round.

A single extruder feeds two molds arranged in side-by-side, independent 22-ton clamping units. This design makes the machine compact.

Cycle parameters can be set separately for each of the two molds, which means the machine can handle two recipes at the same time, according to the company.
