Epson Robots is offering a new series that includes many high-end features in a compact, inexpensive robot that aims to replace slide-based systems.
The first robot in the new all-in-one T series, the T3, was scheduled to be unveiled last month at Pack Expo.
"It is ideal for customers looking to automate their factories without wasting time or money on complex slide-based solutions," said Gregg Brunnick, director of product management at Epson Robots, in a press release for Pack Expo. "Since it includes the same intuitive software and powerful features we incorporate in our high-end robots, we are giving users both the power and simplicity required for their applications."
During an earlier interview at Epson Robot's U.S. headquarters in Carson, Calif., an official said the T3 will cost about $7,500. The design reduces the cost of installation and total ownership.
Here are some of the features:
• Controller is built into the robot's base, eliminating cables;• Runs on 110-volt or 220-volt power;• Integrated vision guidance option;• Support for a wide variety of interface choices;• No battery required for the encoder;• Installs with four bolts in just minutes.
The T3 will have a 6.6-pound payload. It is suited for pick-and-place, assembly, parts-handling and dispensing applications, according to Epson.
The robot was built by Epson in Japan, but the vision system and software were developed at the company's California headquarters.
The other Epson SCARA robots are the G series, a precision, high-speed line; the RS series, which mounts overhead; and the LS-series value line.
