Austrian machinery manufacturer Lindner-Recyclingtech GmbH is unveiling a new shredder optimized for film, a wash unit with improved throughput plus a thermal dryer with better energy efficiency.
The Jupiter BW is designed to improve shredding of film so that it can be better processed by downstream near-infrared (NIR) sorting equipment.
Lindner said the Jupiter BW produces a constant volume flow and homogeneous, larger particles. Particle size ranges from DIN A4 (8.3 inches by 11.7 inches) to DIN A3 (11.7 inches by 16.5 inches). “With a constant particle size from DIN A4 to DIN A3, we have been able to improve the performance of the NIR systems,” said Stefan Scheiflinger-Ehrenwerth, head of product management at Lindner, in a news release.
He said the Jupiter BW reduces fines by up to 50 percent over previous film shredders. A lower volume of fines also improves NIR sorting.
There are four models in the standard Jupiter single-shaft shredder series: The Jupiter 1800 with a 5.8-foot rotor length; a Jupiter 2200 with a 6.9-foot rotor; Jupiter 3200 with a 10.4-foot rotor; and a Jupiter 2200 HP with a faster rotor speed and more knives than the standard Jupiter 2200. All are designed to operate 24/7.
Due to space limitations, no Jupiter shredders will be present at the show, but the rotor of a Jupiter 3200 will be displayed.
In addition to the shredders, Lindner Washtech, the Lindner subsidiary that specializes in washing systems, has a new model in the Rafter pre-wash series that uses a larger rotor to lengthen the dwell time to provide a deeper cleaning.
The new Rafter configuration has increased throughputs of up to 3.3 tons per hour of film and 5.5 tons per hour for rigid plastics.
The Rafter pre-wash units are designed for cleaning highly contaminated, pre-shredded plastics, such as LDPE films and rigid plastics made of HDPE and PP. The machines employ a three-step process to remove contaminants, such as stones, metal and glass, then separate particles and prepare them for a downstream wash process. Foreign matter is removed by chain-type conveyors.
Lindner’s stand will be at Hall 9, Booth B17.
