Piovan SpA, Santa Maria di Sala, Italy, has added new models to its Quantum line of gravimetric batch blenders.

Quantum Piovan SpA, Santa Maria di Sala, Italy, has added new models to its Quantum line of gravimetric batch blenders. The blenders provide digital and mechanical protection of data, weighing precision, blend uniformity, a proprietary control system and energy efficiency. All surfaces are made of stainless steel, making them suitable for use in medical, food and beverage applications. Each blender can have up to six dosing stations that are easily removed for emptying or cleaning. Each dosing station is dedicated to a single ingredient. The blenders, which now are made in the U.S., are distributed by Universal Dynamics.

What's new? The Q50 and Q80. The Q50 has a maximum capacity of about 1,212 pounds per hour and the Q80 has a maximum capacity of 1,764 pounds per hour. The Q50 is set up so that the operator can manually remove and swap out the dosing stations; the Q80 does not have that capability, due to its large size. The new units join the two original models in the line: the Q7, with throughputs ranging from 2.2 pounds per hour to 154 pounds per hour; and the Q12, which has a maximum capacity of 330 pounds per hour.

Benefits More options for processors. Also, both of the new models offer high precision even when operating at low throughputs. Easy removal of the dosing stations aids material changes and prevents contamination.
