Delta's variable-frequency drive (VFD) is appropriate for a wide range of conveying operations.

MS300 Delta's variable-frequency drive (VFD) is appropriate for a wide range of conveying operations. The VFD is housed in a rugged metal conduit box that can be mounted onto a conveyor and has drive vent covers to achieve a rating of IP40 NEMA1 from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, meaning it's certified to withstand damage from falling objects.

What's new? The VFD, which Delta introduced in April at Automate 2017 in Rosemont, Ill.

Benefits Flexibility, scalability and efficiency. The VFD offers an internal PLC that's designed for easy customization, and allows the conveyor to operate in a stand-alone fashion and start and stop on demand. This enables processors to have greater control over their manufacturing processes, while also streamlining infrastructure to boost efficiency. Also, because it's equipped with Traction Energy Control, the MS300 allows for quick deceleration — a feature that allows users to reduce production cycle time and overall energy usage.
