VS Chiller Delta T Systems' new high-efficiency chiller has a variable-speed compressor that adjusts its speed to use only the power needed, allowing it to operate efficiently when running anywhere in the range of 10 percent to 100 percent of rated capacity. This means that a 10-ton chiller operates as efficiently as a 1-ton chiller. The chiller, which is appropriate for extrusion, injection molding, blow molding and other plastics processing applications, features electronic expansion valves for very accurate metering of the refrigerant. The state-of-the-art controls regulate temperature to within 0.5 degree Fahrenheit.

What's new? The chiller, which will be available in July. It comes in seven sizes, with cooling capacities ranging from 1 ton to 15 tons.

Benefits Energy efficiency. The variable-speed compressor technology, which is commonly used in the residential and commercial refrigeration market, yields energy savings of up to 50 percent compared to conventional chillers using traditional hot-gas-bypass regulation. This can result in a return on investment of less than three years. Also, to reduce downtime, the adaptive control adjusts the compressor speed to prevent a shutdown if an alarm condition is imminent, so that the chiller can continue to operate even while operators troubleshoot problems.
