DSD 400 Linde's new gas-metering system is used for manufacturing extruded plastic foam such as PS and polyolefins. It doses precise amounts of liquid carbon dioxide or gaseous nitrogen during the extrusion process to optimize foaming. With a high-performance compressor and dynamic control valve, the DSD 400 reacts quickly to pressure fluctuations within the extruder to provide consistent foam structures. It can handle pressures up to 5,081 pounds per square inch and can pump liquid carbon dioxide at a constant rate through the control valve at speeds up to 66 pounds per hour.
What's new? The system, which hit the U.S. market in January.
Benefits Accurate, environmentally friendly operation. The DSD 400 allows foam extruders to minimize or eliminate the use of flammable hydrocarbons. The lightweight and compact device also is easy to install. Linde describes it as a lower-cost option to its DSD 500 metering system.
