Greiner integrates Flow.Control into Red.Line

Nov. 24, 2014

Flow.Control pro  This downstream extrusion development from Greiner Extrusion GmbH uses hot or cold air to accelerate or decelerate plastic flow at the die during manufacturing of PVC window profiles.

What's new?  Flow.control's integration into Greiner's PLC-controlled modular Red.Line extrusion system. Flow.control pro can be directly mounted on to the calibration table of the Red.Line, its newest window profile extrusion system, to interface with the central PLC so readings come up on the system's main screen. The technology is still available in stand-alone form (flow.control plus) for retrofitting to an existing calibration table using probes that slide into a modified die.

Benefits  A quicker, more efficient way to ensure profile tolerances without any modification to the die, even worn dies, by affecting material flow. The technology can help save on material costs by running parts as light as possible while addressing material variations, maintaining tolerances and reducing rejects. The unit's cost is about $20,000, and includes any necessary die modifications.
