Net Impact's Circular Plastics Challenge 2025 is now accepting submissions from students and professionals, with a $5,000 top prize at stake.
The competition, presented with the support of Hillenbrand, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company, aims to engage future industry leaders, fostering a space to develop ideas to keep plastics in the economy and out of the environment.
It asks participants to develop an artificial intelligence-supported business model to maximize circularity at any point within the plastics value chain: pre-consumer, during consumer use or post-consumer.
Proposals submitted by March 14 will receive feedback from Net Impact’s staff. The final submission deadline is April 11.
Five finalist teams will present their concepts virtually to a panel of judges that includes plastics industry and sustainability leaders. Prizes are $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second and $1,000 for third.
Net Impact and Hillenbrand, a provider of processing equipment and solutions including the Coperion, Mold-Masters and Herbold Meckesheim brands, developed the Circular Plastics Challenge concept in 2022. In the program’s first two years, teams representing dozens of countries around the world have submitted more than 115 proposals.
