Sesotec is the first company to join the facility's Nesting program.

Sensor and recycling equipment maker Sesotec GmBH, based in Schönberg, Germany, has become the first company to set up equipment for testing in a new facility at a nonprofit polymer research center in at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Supported by the state, the Polymers Center is seeking five additional partners to join Sesotec in its new 130,000-square-foot facility, where foreign manufacturers can showcase and test their technologies and products. It is targeting companies from Europe, particularly Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy, to participate in the program, called Nesting, which allows OEMs to establish a direct connection with end users.

Patrick Sommers, sales manager at Sesotec Inc., said his company is excited to be the first Nesting partner.

“While our Bartlett, Ill., location is very well attended, we recognized that being closer to customers in the southeastern U.S. could save travel costs and allow us to provide quicker, more direct support,” he said.

Established in 1999 by the state of North Carolina, the Polymers Center aims to help companies establish their technologies in the U.S. With the new Nesting program, the center expands its capabilities, offering six specially equipped spaces for international companies to present their technologies directly in the U.S.
