IR-Clean processes rPET flakes

Nov. 25, 2022
Applications for Kreyenborg's system could include integration with PET sheet lines or PET re-pelletizing lines.

IR-Clean This infrared rotary drum from Kreyenborg GmbH & Co. KG, Senden, Germany, can crystallize, dry and decontaminate recycled PET (rPET) flakes. It has earned a Letter of Non-Objection from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration allowing the flakes it treats to be recycled into products for food contact. Applications could include integration with PET sheet lines or PET re-pelletizing lines. In the U.S., eFactor3 distributes the IR-Clean.

What’s new? A positive safety assessment from the European Food Safety Authority for use with 100 percent rPET.

Benefits High energy efficiency and low maintenance costs. The rotary drum’s infrared emitters provide rapid heating, and its internal helix allows for continuous processing and proper material flow, offering short residence times. The IR-Clean can easily be retrofitted onto an existing extrusion line to make products food-contact compliant without the need to add expensive vacuum technology.
