Nymax BIO Formulations Bio-based polyamides (PAs) in Avient’s Nymax BIO Formulations line are appropriate for both injection molding and extrusion processes and are well-suited for making automotive, consumer, industrial, building and construction products. The materials can be customized for specific performance needs, such as flame-retardance or for use with laser welding processes.

What’s new? The Nymax BIO Formulations product line, which includes unfilled grades as well as ones filled with glass fibers or natural fillers. Filled formulations can contain between 16 percent and 47 percent natural filler from renewable plant sources, including corn, straw and wheat.

Benefits Sustainability. Plant-based raw materials can have a significantly lower carbon footprint than those produced using petroleum-based feedstocks, the company said. Additionally, the low-water-absorption formulations have excellent dimensional stability and property retention, solving the problem of water uptake in finished parts. Compared with traditional PA 66 glass fiber-filled materials, the bio-derived solutions warp less, can be colored and result in excellent surface appearances.
