Celebrate Vinyl Week 2024 Dec. 9-12
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) and the Vinyl Sustainability Council are once again coming together to present a can’t-miss event — Vinyl Week 2024. This year, attendees will convene in Louisville, Ky., Dec. 9-12.
Vinyl Week brings together the longstanding PLASTICS Vinyl Compounders Conference and the Vinyl Institute Sustainability Summit under one roof, so top professionals from across the industry can get the benefits of both events with just one business trip.
Monday, Dec. 9
Day 1 of Vinyl Week features a rich agenda from the Vinyl Institute with sessions that include vinyl recycling, how sustainability is shaping the future of the industry, and how certain Environmental Protection Agency strategies will affect the vinyl industry.
Achievements in vinyl recycling will be celebrated at the event, as attendees are treated to a panel sharing success stories from the Vinyl Institute’s Viability post-consumer recycling grant program. The U.S. vinyl industry has ambitious recycling goals, and the Viability initiative supports that effort by providing financial assistance to companies and organizations in support of their post-consumer PVC recycling efforts.
There will also be an update on the Vinyl Institute’s +Vantage Vinyl voluntary verification program that recognizes company commitments to advancing sustainability in the vinyl industry. Jay Thomas, executive director of the Vinyl Sustainability Council, will speak on how +Vantage Vinyl is evolving and how it will impact the industry.
Tuesday, Dec. 10
Day 2 of Vinyl Week kicks off an array of presentations and panels curated by PLASTICS. Among the areas covered are geopolitical trends, carbon neutrality, regulatory updates, advanced mechanical recycling of vinyl, and sector-specific presentations on films and fabrics, and wire and cable.
A special feature of Day 2 is a presentation by Patrick Krieger, VP of sustainability for PLASTICS, and Domenic DeCaria, VP of regulatory and technical affairs for the Vinyl Institute. Krieger and DeCaria will share their experiences of being onsite for the meetings surrounding the U.N. Global Plastic Pollution Treaty. They will also discuss the potential impact of the treaty’s goals on the vinyl industry.
Wednesday, Dec. 11
Day 3 begins with PLASTICS CEO Matt Seaholm providing an Association update and a look ahead to 2025. That forward focus continues as Seaholm moderates a discussion on “Legislative Trends, Election Insights, and Policymaking Outlook for 2025: Impacts for the Vinyl Industry” featuring top D.C. political strategist Matt Keelen of Vogel Group.
Later in the day, Dr. Perc Pineda, chief economist of PLASTICS, speaks about economic trends and insights for the vinyl industry, providing a detailed look at financial drivers and market dynamics. The day also features focused sessions on the global paste PVC market, technology and innovation, and flame-retardant solutions for vinyl products.
A must-attend event
Featuring industry-leading speakers, cross-cutting educational programming and valuable networking and business development opportunities, Vinyl Week is a must for the industry's prominent and promising companies.
