CAD2SCAN makes inspection setup easy

Dec. 12, 2022
Kitov's Smart Planner machine vision programming software now allows users to define their inspection requirements directly on a part’s CAD model.

CAD2SCAN Typical automated robotic vision inspection systems require long lead times and extensive programming to set up. Kitov’s CAD2SCAN, the latest feature of its Kitov Smart Planner machine vision programming software, allows users to define their inspection requirements directly on a part’s CAD model.

What’s new? CAD2SCAN, which debuted in June.

Benefits Fast, affordable programming of automated inspection scans. CAD2SCAN’s simple, intuitive system allows users to set up an inspection process quickly, saving weeks or even months over traditional programming systems. The software is especially well-suited to inspection of single-material parts with complex 3D geometric shapes, such as CNC-created parts. It is also a great fit for custom or low-volume parts, including 3D printed parts, where programming an automated inspection would typically be impractical. CAD2SCAN works as a plugin for common CAD software systems — currently SolidWorks and Creo.
