MAC Automation Concepts, a supplier of auxiliary equipment and parts-handling solutions to the plastics industry, has completed a major expansion at its headquarters in Woodstock, Ill.
The company acquired 4.4 acres of land and constructed a 30,000-square-foot addition to its existing building, for a total plant size of 74,000 square feet, with the potential to add another 50,000-square-foot building.
President and CEO Frank Eltvedt said the expansion was necessary to keep up with sales. “We’re seeing continued year-over-year growth, and we anticipate that continuing across all segments of the plastics and packaging industry,” he said. “We continue to hire new staff and needed more space.”
Eltvedt said the new space will be used mostly for manufacturing, including an expanded area for mechanical and electrical assembly, as well as quality control and inventory. The company has also built a new sewing room for its line of gaylord covers.
Joe Gracia, national sales manager, said the company is seeing a lot of business from reshoring and the trend toward increased automation. “Customers continue to automate, as they continue to have trouble finding workers,” he said. “Our strength is part-handling equipment, so the increase in automation is good for our business. We’re seeing new projects in packaging, medical and other markets.”
