Bunting names third generation of family as CEO

Robert Bunting has been appointed president and CEO of Newton, Kan.-based Bunting, which designs and manufactures magnetic separation, detection and materials-handling equipment. On Oct. 1, he succeeded his father, Bob, in the role, which had also been held by Robert’s grandfather, Walter Bunting. Bob Bunting becomes the company’s chairman.

In his new role, Robert Bunting will oversee the global Bunting group’s continued growth.  

Robert Bunting earned a degree in business management at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., and worked as an insurance inside sales coordinator before joining Bunting’s Elk Grove Village magnet sales team in 2007. He advanced through external sales and global product manager roles with the company before becoming a general manager in 2016. 

Robert Bunting has sat on the business intelligence committee for PMMI (The Association for Packaging and Processing) and is marketing director of the Process Equipment Manufacturers' Association (PEMA).  In his spare time, Robert competes in Ironman Triathlons.

The company has been a family-owned and -operated business since its founding in 1959. It has multiple locations including Bunting-Elk Grove Village, Ill.; Bunting-DuBois, Pa.; Bunting-Berkhamsted and Bunting-Redditch in the United Kingdom; and Ningbo, China.
