Bosch Rexroth AG, Lohr am Main, Germany, has taken steps to acquire a majority stake in the Danish firm Kassow Robots, a move it said will allow it to offer one-stop solutions, especially in the consumer goods and mobility industries.

Kassow Robots was co-founded in 2014 by Kristian Kassow, who in 2005 was one of the co-founders of Universal Robots, which is the leading developer of cobots. Kassow’s portfolio includes five seven-axis cobots, with reaches from 2.8 feet to 5.9 feet and payloads from 11 pounds to 39.6 pounds.

Marc Wucherer, a member of Bosch Rexroth’s executive board, said the market for cobots is expected to experience 15 percent to 20 percent annual growth in the coming years. “We want to take advantage of this potential and expand our portfolio with collaborative robots from Kassow Robots.”

No financial details of the acquisition were disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close later this year. Bosch Rexroth supplies drive and control technologies and serves a variety of markets, including factory automation.
