3DT LLC, Germantown, Wis., will celebrate its 30th anniversary in August.
When the company was established, the typical methods used by manufacturers to increase surface tension and bonding on plastic parts were chemical primer baths, physical abrasion and flame treatment. With fewer health and environmental hazards, as well as lower costs than the alternatives, corona and plasma treatment took off quickly in the U.S. after they were introduced by 3DT’s founders, Danish businessmen Erik Kiel and Morten Jorgensen. The technology was invented in Denmark.
