Arburg has released its fourth annual Sustainability Report, detailing the company’s values and activities on environmental issues in 2023.
ArburgGREENworld is the company’s framework for achieving sustainability through resource efficiency, a reduced carbon footprint and a circular economy. A main objective is to reduce the carbon footprint in plastics processing and to return plastic to the material cycle after use.
The report notes that heat recovery, photovoltaics, wind and geothermal energy, and the exclusive use of regional, green electricity have helped to establish a 100 percent sustainable energy management system.
In 2023, 74 percent of all waste generated in 2023 was recycled; rainwater collected in cisterns accounted for 20.5 percent of total water consumption; Arburg's electricity mix had an 88 percent smaller carbon footprint than the German electricity mix; and 15 percent of its renewable energy was self-generated.
The company also holds a Gold Medal from EcoVadis, a comprehensive sustainability rating platform for global supply chains that also takes into account ethics, labor rights and human rights.
Between 2010 and 2023, the company says it has saved more than 138,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

For the first time, the company is also publishing a report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, enabling its activities to be compared to other international businesses, governments and NGOs.
Arburg, based in Lossburg, Germany, manufactures injection molding and other plastics processing machinery.
