The devices from Progressive Components feature an engineered break point to prevent shearing of bolts.

Safety Strap Progressive Components has introduced its new Safety Strap, which secures parting lines during mold transport and storage. Each Safety Strap is powder-coated in OSHA Yellow, assigned a safety factor of 2, and compatible with previous standards. They are available in three sizes: SAFT-88 with 0.875 -inch bolt centers; SAFT-150 with 1.5-inch bolt centers; and SAFT-200 with 2-inch bolt centers.

What’s new? The Safety Straps.

Benefits Improved safety. In the past, if a mold strap was unintentionally left in place when the mold was opened, the bolts would be sheared off, preventing the mold from being removed from the press safely until the sheared bolt could be machined out and replaced. Progressive’s Safety Straps feature an engineered break point designed to prevent the shearing of bolts. If the mold is opened with a strap in place, the broken strap can be easily replaced while the mold is still in the press.
