Engel North America announced it is offering a four-year comprehensive paid apprenticeship program for students to acquire skills that are in demand in the injection molding industry.
The program is certified and registered within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and provides on-the-job experience and classroom-based instruction. For the first five months, students will stay in corporate housing in York, Pa., for four hours of classroom instruction and four hours of hands-on instruction for the other four hours with experienced assemblers. Apprentices are paid for all hours worked and time spent in formal education.
After the initial training, apprentices return to live at home and travel with Engel field service technicians on customer calls, returning annually to Engel’s headquarters for more formalized education. Graduates of the program will be offered a full-time non-exempt job with Engel, as well as the nationally recognized Journeymen’s certification.
“Within North America, apprenticeship programs are a much-needed addition to any employer’s structure to really support the foundation of the business,” said Terri Fanz-Falzone, VP of human resources for Engel North America. “Our goal with the program is to provide the next generation with the tools to succeed in the fields of injection molding and automation — including robotics.”
