Some of the machines that Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG will exhibit at K 2022 will be equipped with its new Alpha 6 control system, which is making its debut at the show and is designated as the company’s successor to its current Procan Alpha 4 control system.
The Alpha 6 comes with a 16:9 screen format and its thin-film-transistor (TFT) color display offers HD resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. Its slightly wider-screen format offers an additional input area for an individually adjustable widget library, and its symbol presentation has been modified to employ soft colors to be more comfortable for users’ eyes.
But despite these updates, the company said the control system is still clear and intuitive, and users familiar with previous controls will be able to make the transition easily. Data sets from the Procan Alpha 4 are compatible and can be transferred to the new Alpha 6.
The Alpha 6 boosts networking capabilities for Boy’s IMMs with a variety of digital expansion program add-ons, including the Boy-WLAN-Stick, the Boy-Software Moulding Assist and the Boy-Status-App.
Once it is plugged into the machine control, the Boy-WLAN-Stick connects the IMM to the internet via the customer’s existing WLAN or a hotspot, allowing secure, remote-controlled monitoring of process sequences.
BOY-Software Moulding Assist is an intelligent digital assistant that can help identify and correct injection molding faults. It offers operators suggestions to eliminate the errors.
The Boy-Status-App gives users a view of the current status of Boy machines via a smartphone. An easy-to-read display provides a green bar to show the machine is operating with no problems in the automatic mode, yellow to indicate the machine works in manual or setting mode, and red means the machine has malfunctioned.
Boy will exhibit in Hall 13, Booth A43.
