Fluke acoustic imager now walks the walk

In a collaboration with Boston Dynamics, the SV600 can be mounted to a Spot robot, gaining mobility and the capacity to search for problems throughout a facility.

SV600 Fluke Process Instruments’ fixed acoustic imager can be used to detect, locate and visualize air and gas leaks, or changes in mechanical sound signatures. It uses a camera and an array of sophisticated sensors to collect sounds, then maps them visually onto a video image to help users quickly locate the problem.

What’s new? Mobility. Fluke Process Instruments has partnered with Boston Dynamics to mount the SV600 on a Spot mobile robot.

Benefits Automated inspections. The Spot can carry the SV600 throughout a production floor or other large facility. The user defines waypoints for the Spot and points of interest — for example, an air hose suspended 10 feet in the air. The robot can then be programmed to follow the predetermined route and “look” in the proper direction. The SV600 offers real-time detection, giving users the ability to catch problems with equipment early and conduct maintenance before problems cause costly unplanned downtime.
