Chinaplas kicks off with few international visitors

April 14, 2021
Most attendees are from China, and their attendance grew 30 percent compared to the 2019 show.

In the first day of the biggest plastics industry trade show to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinaplas was a much more local affair than in past years.

According to figures provided by show sponsor Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., 44,236 people attended the first day of Chinaplas on Monday April 13 in Shenzhen — all but 577 from China. Compared with the first day of the 2019 show, which took place in Guangzhou, Adsale recorded a 30.7-percent increase in Chinese visitors.

The show is available online through a live stream, at www.chinaplasonline.com/CPS21/OfficialLiveStreaming/eng. The show, which continues through Friday, April 16, takes place just about a month before industry insiders had planned to attend NPE2021. The biggest plastics trade show in the U.S., NPE was canceled earlier this year due to the pandemic.
