LS Mtron, the Korean manufacturer of injection molding machines, announced it has acquired the plastics machinery division of Daiichi Jitsugyo America (DJA), the U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese trading company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The companies have had a distribution agreement since NPE2018.
Peter Gardner, business director of LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines USA, said, “When LS Mtron and DJA began discussion about 2021 U.S. sales operations and strategies … it became apparent during our talks that each company would be duplicating some resources, and the most efficient investments could be made if we considered ways to merge our efforts.”
DJA’s management eventually decided that the sale of its plastic machinery division to LS Mtron would allow both companies to focus on their respective businesses.
All DJA-Plastics Division employees will join the new company, with its existing offices and technical center in Wood Dale, Ill. LS Mtron also operates a sales and distribution facility in Atlanta.
