Haitian launches next-generation Jupiter

Haitian has enhanced machine functionality with its new, third-generation Jupiter line of two-platen, servo-hydraulic presses.

Haitian has enhanced machine functionality with its new, third-generation Jupiter line of two-platen, servo-hydraulic presses. Jupiter III models, now available in the U.S. and Canadian markets, offer a more-compact footprint while retaining the line’s energy-efficient operation.

The new press series is available in 16 sizes with clamping forces ranging from 506 to 7,418 tons. The company designed it to produce large parts, such as trash bins, crates, automotive parts and appliance parts where surface quality is important.

Absolute Haitian is the exclusive distributor of Jupiter III in the U.S. and Canada and is taking delivery of the machines from China. The machines will be available in Mexico through Haitian Mexico.

Absolute Haitian said upgrades made to the Jupiter design make the two-platen machines more useful for many applications. The company upgraded the clamp’s design, injection unit and controller. The improvements result in faster cycles, more precision and easier maintenance.

The Jupiter III two-platen, servo-hydraulic injection molding machine is Absolute Haitian’s third-generation Jupiter machine.Absolute HaitianHaitian updated the clamp with a simpler, more reliable and more precise design that results in 10 percent improvements in dry-cycle times and braking speeds, the company said. The redesign increased tie-bar spacing on the following models: the 13000 (1,461 tons), 16000 (1,798 tons), 18500 (2,079 tons), 24000 (2,698 tons), 28000 (3,147 tons) and 33000 (3,709 tons). The increased spacing allows for the use of larger molds.

The company also simplified the clamp design, eliminating the tie-bar adjustment oil cylinder. The high-pressure clamping cylinder now adjusts the tie bar and performs the mold-opening-breakaway function.

The improved injection unit enhances processing flexibility and power. For improved pressure and speed, a larger, upgraded pump offers a 10 percent to 20 percent increase in power.  A new high-drive servo system provides accelerated injection response within 100 milliseconds. To facilitate easier maintenance, the injection unit now swivels on all model sizes.

Additional injection unit sizes provide for larger shots sizes on the 18500, 21000, 24000, 28000 and 33000 Jupiter III models.

Enhancements to the Keba controller make possible faster cycle times. These improvements result in an increase in signal accuracy from 0.1mm to 0.01mm.

The controller is equipped with GoFactory, Haitian’s wireless communication interface network for software downloads. New equipment does not need to manually upgrade software and hardware, and users don’t need specialized expertise to install upgrades. Instead, they can simply download software from the cloud.

Inside the Keba controller, Motion Plus software allows for improved communication, control and flexibility among the molding machine’s various components, such as drives, pumps and sensors. It acts as a communication center to convert and filter molding machine operating parameters for manufacturing-execution systems.
