LSR injection molding machines Wittmann Battenfeld has upgraded the liquid- silicone-rubber (LSR) processing technology for its SmartPower, MicroPower, EcoPower, vertical and multicomponent injection molding machines.

What’s new? Numerous features, including a redesigned plasticizing unit. As part of that redesign, the company has optimized the seal at the end of the shaft in front of the screw coupling (inset). Also, the unit’s check valve now combines a larger flow cross-section with a faster and more precise closing mechanism. The machine’s control system now can control the LSR dosing pump via an OPC-UA communication interface, making it possible to connect the machine to every commonly available liquid silicone dosing and conveying system.

Benefits Greater precision and fewer leaks. The check valve upgrades significantly improve shot weight precision, and the improvements to the shaft seal reduce the risk of liquid silicone leaking out toward the screw drive.
