Maguire WXB blenders tailored for extrusion

Oct. 11, 2024
They are compact and offer a quick ROI by reducing scrap and start-up time.

WXB series Maguire’s WXB series of batch gravimetric blenders is designed to be useful for a wide range of extrusion manufacturers, from tube, pipe, profile and cable processors to film and sheet converters. The blenders can handle from two to 12 materials, with throughputs ranging from 20 pounds per hour up to 1,000 pounds per hour.

What’s new? Simplified extrusion controls. The operator enters a setpoint of either pounds per hour or weight per length, and the system provides continuous line monitoring to keep the product setpoint on target, with no manual interventions required.

Benefits Cost-effectiveness. WXB blenders provide blending, loss-in-weight and extrusion control functions less expensively, because it is offered by one unit. Their compact size allows them to be mounted at the throat of an extruder, potentially replacing more space-intensive configurations with a separate blender mounted on a mezzanine above the extruder. The integrated extrusion control reduces product scrap and startup times, and Maguire says users can see ROI in three to six months.
