EG-AX Cannon Afros, a company of Cannon Group, specializes in mixing equipment and dosing systems for polyurethanes (PU) and other reactive resins. Its EG-AX system, which includes a high-pressure foaming machine and patented multicomponent mixing head, was originally developed to process expandable graphite. It is used as a substitute for other flame retardants that are being phased out in the EU, such as melamine, which the EU now classifies as a “substance of very high concern.”
What’s new? An updated version of the EG-AX system, which can produce viscoelastic foams, continuous sandwich panels and poly-iso boards.
Benefits Wider range of uses. Cannon’s EG-AX system can now produce insulation panels, flexible foams for furniture, molded foams for mass transit as well as integral skin and flexible molded foams for automotive applications. While expandable graphite is eco-friendly, it’s very fragile and sensitive to mechanical stress. Cannon says the EG-AX system results in far lower particle breakage than other solutions offered on the market, which also reduces waste of chemicals and downtime.
