IntelliDrive 85-S Gen II Debuting at the 2022 K Show, this 72-ton Jomar injection blow molding machine has servo hydraulics, digital clamp controls, a variable-frequency drive, and the latest machine controller and color HMI. The machine features an advanced programmable control system with a color touch screen and storage of up to 250 parameters; remote diagnostics and software updates also are possible. The machine integrates a precise open/close digital system that increases cylinder speed while prolonging the cylinder’s lifespan; this also reduces the closing impact on tooling, extending mold life.
What’s new? A hybrid version of the 85-S IntelliDrive Gen II that has a pure-servo circuit driving the screw, in comparison with the original servo-hydraulic version, which has a servo-hydraulic circuit. While the plastifier technology is different, both machines have a hydraulic clamp. Other improvements include the relocation of the high-voltage box to make access easier, the use of nickel-plating, rather than paint, and a re-mounting of the servo drives to make space and further improve access.
Benefits An overall reduction of hydraulics that makes the 85-S Gen II more hygienic than the original model. Compared with other similar machines, both 85-S versions have a smaller footprint and use 40 percent less energy and hydraulic oil, and half as much cooling water. They have a dry cycle time of 1.8 seconds. The new hybrid machine adds even more processing capabilities, with greater preform clamp pressure, up to 76 tons, and a larger trigger bar length — 26.5 inches — allowing higher cavitation and increased output.
