Polyimide heaters Omega Engineering's new thin heater strips are made up of a polyimide film that's sandwiched around etched foil heater elements. Backed by adhesive, they can be attached to heat sinks within a mold to conduct heat. They come in 15 shapes and can conform to flat and curved surfaces. In most cases, the heater elements are 0.0005 inch or 0.0001 inch thick and are wrapped between two layers of 0.002-inch-thick polyimide film with a 0.001-inch-thick adhesive. Versions are available that provide various levels of power: 2.5, 5 or 10 watts, as well as 28, 115 and 230 volts of AC power.
