Big Kaiser has a new line of boring heads — frequently used to cut leader pinholes in molds — that connect wirelessly with its boring tool app.

EWE digital boring head Big Kaiser has a new line of boring heads — frequently used to cut leader pinholes in molds — that connect wirelessly with its boring tool app. Information is stored directly on the head, and when it connects with the app, operators can track changes in cutting diameter and decide how best to adjust cutting parameters. EWE boring heads work on a range of precision production boring equipment. The new boring heads were exhibited at EMO Hannover 2017 in September, but the company is just beginning to sell the EWE line in the U.S.

What's new? Wireless connectivity between the boring heads and app.

Benefits Easier setup and decreased risk of operator error. The app can read the adjustment history of any head it connects to, which can provide data for smart manufacturing processes. The app comes in iOS and Android versions for smartphones and tablets.
